Cafes - Retrolicious.

Recently I have been to two cafes that are.....

Both have displays of those old school days, local food with western fares as well. =)

I went to Old School Delight located at 215M Upper Thomson Road, they sell food like Mee Siam, Laksa, etc etc... We went there after dinner so we only had a banana cake and a cup of traditional coffee.

Saw someone having western food but the appearance of it was so-so. =P

I am more excited with the display than food! haha

And the childhood games we used to play!

All these were games we used to play. It was nice to have them on each table, customers could just play with it.

They sell Loti Huey (biscuits with colorful sugar on it) for $1, this leads me to the next cafe I went....

STEAM SIA!

It is a newly opened cafe in August, located at 5 Hindoo Road (10 minutes walk from Farrer Park Station). I guess it was fairly new which explained why we were the only customers there! It reminded me of the cafe I went in Penang because it was so quiet and not crowded at all! =D

Displays they have.

We sat there for a few hours, eating dinner, chit chatting, taking photos! whee! And their service staffs were very friendly! LOL!

Things for sale.

There is a Kacang Puteh corner which we could just help ourselves to the Kacang and biscuits FOR FREE! So nice of them, I thought it was quite a thoughtful gesture! The corner also displayed some games we used to play when we were young.

Loti Huey! Have it for free!

We ordered 2 main courses to share - Curry Chicken with bread and Nasi Goreng! Not bad. We all love the warm bread! hahaha.

Order 1 main course and like their facebook page for a FREE WAFFLE ICE CREAM! WOW. And so we got 2 waffles ice cream for free. hahaha.

I prefer steam sia than old school delight. =)

  1. Old school delight is so over rated. I won't recommend dining there. Only good for trying to reminisce the old days.. but still nothing beats the cafes in Penang!
