Food - Suprette

I think I made a right choice on Suprette to celebrate a friend's birthday. The place was quiet even though it was a Friday night, and because the restaurant was relatively small, it was very cosy too.

Suprette is located in Kam Leng Hotel. Such an oldie hotel. hehehe.

I read good reviews on the Ricotta & Spinach Stuffed Chicken Breast and Suprette Burger, hence I knew I must try this two!

Each dish comes with a side salad and fries, free flow of fries!!!

The Suprette Burger ($25) was good, the bun was nicely toasted and the meat patty was quite juicy. The Chicken breast ($24) also didn't disappoint, I think like what the review says, it is pretty tender considering its breast meat. Oh, and the fries, we cannot even finish the first serving. TOO MUCH.

Therefore we thought next time we should just order one main course and one started to share, because two main course were too much. >.<

I think with a bigger gorup it would be better!

Pardon my ugly phone

Some oldie stuff around the hotel lobby.

I think if I am looking for somewhere quiet for dinner or some drinks, I will come back here again.

Travel - Sun, Sea, Seafood and Sihanoukville

Bangkok trip reminded me of Cambodia and I have decided to blog about Cambodia in more details. Well, after so many years right. I shall start with my favourite.
Sihanoukville, also known as Kampong Som is located 185 kilometres southwest of Phnom Penh, Cambodia's capital. It is about a 3 hours drive.

I have been to Sihanoukville twice, once in 2005 and another time in 2008. Both occasions I did the same thing - EAT SEAFOOD!!!

When we were approaching the town of Kampong Som, we stopped by a stretch of stalls selling fresh seafood! Take your pick on the crabs and prawns and not forgetting the super duper good sweet chilli sauce. After choosing the seafood, they will steam it on the spot!

We will then continue our journey to the beachfront! Back then, it was still not a touristy place, I am not too sure about now though. We chose a table and sat down, ready to feast on the seafood while enjoying the sea breeze. =) One of my best experience in Cambodia.

After food, we just stroll along the seaside while the kids play.

Then have some yummy mangoes as dessert. Life can so good.

We just spend the whole afternoon there till sunset. There, we watched the sunset. Simplicity is such a bliss. Even until now I can still remember the freshness of seafood, the sweetness of the mangoes, the warmth of the sea breeze and the beauty of the sunset. It will be etched in my memory. =)

Mr. Jones Orphanage, Bangkok

Bangkok was never on my travel list  until someday I came across Mr. Jones' Orphanage and also the vintage train market.

The one I visited was located in Siam Center, but I think it is one of the branch they had. There we were in this cafe after some walking. We chit chatted here for some time before we headed back to our hotel!

The queue was long, I guess because of the prime location.

Mouth watering cakes right at the doorstep, everyone (including me!) was snapping pictures like as if we were visiting a zoo or something. Too many choices, too little stomach space.

The cafe was designed to be like a train! The seats gave me a "Harry Potter" feel. haha. But the structure made it a little difficult to maneuver inside the cafe,  the service crew (including us) has to bend down in order to move around the cafe. -_-

We ordered a supposedly "best seller"?. Err. I wondered why is it best seller. To me it wasn't that fantastic and the three of us were joking about maybe this cake is not that best selling and they put "best seller" to trick customers into ordering it. lol.

Ok, this strawberry waffles is good. Sinfully good. Give me all the whipped cream!

I didn't manage to find the vintage train market. Sigh. It was relocated and it is way too far for us. I guess with this regret, I might return to Bangkok again?

Ending Sunday with Arbite & Dong Po

Agenda for the day is to visit Dong Po Colonial Cafe but knowing they sell pastries and bread only, we decided to have lunch nearby.

Kandahar Street is usually bustling especially on a weekend, but today the place was quieter. We managed to get parking easily and decided to have lunch at A for Arbite, which is located along Aliwal Street.

"Live well, laugh often and love much"

Looking at this quote as I eat just reminded me to really live life to the fullest. =) I am grateful for a Sunday like this. I just felt so blessed.

We ordered two dishes from "Small plates for sharing". The price is a lil steep but I am quite satisfied with the food! The beef burgers were one of the better ones I had! Juicy and the meat is tender. It costs $15.90~

The waitress said they are famous for their pasta because it is handmade, when I tasted it, indeed it's different. I like it! It's very flavourful too! This tri pepper pasta costs $12.90? (Ok, I cannot remember. -_-)

Then we were too full to eat pastries hence we had to walk around for awhile before heading to the shop that is supposedly on our agenda! LOL.

I ordered 3 pastries and 2 drinks from Dong Po and it costs us only $7.90! We both felt that the Bostock is underpriced! LOL. It's $3.50 and comes with a drink! 2 pastries and a drink cost $4.20 (change drink to milo, just top up $0.20)

Butterfly cupcake and Almonds finger. Both worth trying! I love the butter cream, so old school. The plain looking almonds finger surprised us! It was yummy, not too sweet and alil crunchy and chewy.

Here comes bostock! Bread toasted with generous serving of almonds. Not too bad but I still prefers the bostock that I bought from bread project.

With these comes the end to my long weekend. I believe tomorrow will be an awesome start to the new week!

Adore -

Eight Cafe and Bar,

Bukit Pasoh Road 的早晨,这一幕我马上就想到“新旧交接”来形容。

Today's lunch break was 1hr 20 mins, I decided to check out Eight cafe which is located very near the training venue. On a Sunday, they serve brunch only.

From the outside, only two vintage-looking chairs can be seen. You have to push open the door and step in to see how the cafe looks like.

一开门 - 别有洞天。

They just printed some pictures on coloured papers and pasted them neatly on their walls to make it the wall papers. Creative! I like the layout of the cafe because it reminds me of those cafes in Melaka and Penang. It's very deep in.

Explored the back of the cafe.

Any students from this school? lol.

Ordered Eggs any style, costs $16.80, comes with coffee too. No GST and service charge!

Dessert was creme brulee - $6.80~

Though I was on course, I enjoyed my time there, especially seizing every opportunity to check the cafes and eateries nearby. Enjoy life to the fullest, even if I am on course! hahaha.

Eight cafe and bar is located @ Bukit Pasoh Road, exit H from Outram Park MRT! Very convenient!

On a side note, can you believe it? It's already August! Time really flies, so please live every moment to the fullest. I am looking forward to September. Holidays holidays holidays but before September holidays arrive, let's just enjoy this coming long public holiday!
